So, I didn't even remember it was forth of july... the day of explosions just kind of snuck up on me. I was at Malachi's house, playing final fantisy 10 (drooL! I am just now getting over the guilt factor of doing nothing but FF10... and not working? And it's time to go back to school.) when the band got a last minute call to play a show in denver for a house party. So we all head down there, and it's on top of a fucking apartment building. A nice one at that. Set up, get a wine bottle of welches something or other, and I was all set.
The band played about 6 songs, and it was one of the coolest shows I've ever seen them play. We were 8 or 9 stories off the ground (tall buildng) and there were people in this perimiter around us on their balchonies watching, and a bunch on the roof with us. I was taking pictures, and Stien's girlfriend, Jessica pointed out a cop on the roof of an ajascent building. I took a picture and later, when we zoomed in, sure enough it was a cop! The same one that, at the end of the sixth song, busted in and told us to quit.
The lead singer of the band who called us up here, who also, was going to play after us, threw up this fucking fit. The cop was cool too, but he made his girlfriend cry, and was screaming "AM I TOO LOUD FOR YOU? HUH? AM I TOO LOUD?" to the cop... who took it all well... ect ect... temper tantrum. We got out of there before any shit could possibly go down though.
The most beautiful part of the whole thing was blasting music over denver... on fourth of july, to those particular lyrics. It's not as amusing if you haven't heard them, but one song is against exaggerated states of police brutality, one is about a guy who just killed a guy and is on the run, one is a statement about the Iraq war (kill all your family in the name of god, yea we blow up your house in the name of Allah)... I can't think of the other songs they played, but it was all very amusing, seranading denver.
